Tizen (Samsung TV)

Install the native Pelagica app on a Samsung Smart TV.

Pelagica is also available as a native app for Samsung Smart TVs running Tizen. Since Samsung doesn’t allow sideloading apps directly, installing it requires a helper tool called Apps2Samsung.

Requirements

  • A Samsung Smart TV with Developer Mode enabled (see below).
  • A Windows, macOS, or Linux computer on the same network as the TV.

1. Download and install Apps2Samsung

Download the latest version of Apps2Samsung for your platform from its Releases page, then install it.

2. Enable Developer Mode on your TV

  1. On your TV, open the Apps screen.
  2. Press 1 2 3 4 5 in sequence on your remote (or the on-screen remote in the SmartThings app) to open the Developer Mode dialog.
  3. Toggle Developer mode on and enter the IP address of the computer you’ll be installing from when prompted.
  4. Restart the TV when asked.

NOTE

The exact steps to reach the Developer Mode dialog can vary slightly between Tizen versions. If 1 2 3 4 5 doesn’t work, search for your TV model plus “Tizen developer mode” for the exact key sequence.

3. Install with Apps2Samsung

  1. Open Apps2Samsung.
  2. Under Release, select pelagica-tizen.
  3. Select your TV from the list of detected devices.
  4. Click Download & Install.

Once installation finishes, Pelagica will appear alongside your other apps on the TV.

NOTE

Like the desktop app, the Tizen app connects to a Jellyfin server the same way the web app does. It doesn’t need a self-hosted Pelagica instance.

NOTE

Alternatively, you can also install the Tizen app by downloading the .wgt file from the Releases page of the Pelagica repository and using the Custom WGT File option in the release dropdown of Apps2Samsung. This is useful if you want to install a specific version of the app.
